Newest work for Bicycle Times Magazine. The issue is out right now! Go pick one up and read awesome articles on bikes and see awesome artwork (not just my own, usually each issue has a lot!)
I took part in an Adventure Time gift swap. These are the gifts I made for my swapee.
Top: Graphite drawing of Finn in Fox Mask/dinner costume from episode, The Creeps.
Bottom Left: Progress shot of drawing
Bottom Right: hand painted Jake bike bell. *DING DONG*
I am in a group show this month at Flying M in Boise. The show is “Secret Lives” and some of my most favorite people are in this show with me.
Also, my first all graphite piece in ages and DAMN do I love it. Going to continue my work in this direction for a while.
More work for Bicycle Times for the current issue. Pizza made with vegan cheese that tastes like it hates you.
Recently just worked on another swap for Ten Paces and Draw (see all of them here). The sketch I sent in is the bottom right, and my final is the top left TMNT final.
I feel like this particular swap was extra interesting and successful is how each artist interpreted the other’s sketch. I really love how Bree Lundberg turned my dancing house into a really adorable birdhouse, with the tree mimicking my heart balloons. So smart.
The sketch I received was from Kate Haberer. It’s a really funny mole-man guy knitting something with his pet alligator. I couldn’t come up with a good mole-man like hers and was super stumped. I really loved the pipes and idea of being in a sewer and I instantly thought of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and decided to change up her sketch.
This Saturday was the opening at Gallery 1988 Melrose for the show, “Young Adult”. I met Kat Brunnegraff and Liz and Jeremy Reed of Cuddles and Rage. I got to see Garfunkle and Oats, a hundred adorable LA girls dressed in cute clothes, and briefly say hello to Sophia Rossi, 1/3 founder of Hellogiggles.com Unfortunately, I was super super sick all weekend (and still am!) So I wasn’t as adventurous as I wished. Another time, and place. It was nice going somewhere literally 70 degrees warmer than what I have been dealing with here in Idaho.
My painting and prints are now available on G1988’s website.
Finally done with this beast. My eyes and my wrist hurts. For some reason I had the absolute hardest time deciding on what colors I wanted this gig poster to be. It will be screen printed and for sale at the show.
***interesting fact I forgot to mention: Doug Martsch and his wife Karena, rescue/foster baby squirrels back to health***
I had an interview a few months back with the Daily Dot. It is finally up and ready for reading-
I just opened an etsy shop to sell my hand painted bike bells! My shop is called Bits and Bells. Check it out! I had quite a few more, but sold them already.
I have been waiting AGES to draw this little guy. It felt so amazing to pick up a pencil again. Too good. Too good, indeed.
Every year in Boise, there is a giant silent auction to raise money for ALPHA, a really great AIDS awareness organization here in town. There are literally hundreds of pieces of art that fill up the walls of the coffee shop, Flying M, where it is hosted every year.
This is my painting for this year. I try to make it as adorable and lovey as possible without it being too cliche.
The show hasn’t been announced yet, but this painting will be at Gallery 1988-in collaboration with Hello Giggles-for a show that opens Feb 1st. It is an all girl group show with the theme of “young adult novels” like Goosebumps, Babysitter’s Club, etc.
I am super stoked to get my work down to LA and to actually get to be at the opening! It’s going to be awesome, and if any of you are planning on going, come and say hi to me!
The original painting (16” X 20”) will be for sale, as well as prints that are just a little bit smaller.
I will post more as it comes.
Here’s a few painting that will be in an art show at the Visual Arts Collective in Garden City, ID that opens this Friday.
